About Me
When it all started…
Hi, I’m Ryan Lewis—a blacksmith, craftsman, and maker of custom knives, sheaths, holsters, and rifle weight kits. My journey started in 2005 in my parent's backyard in Fresno, California. What began as a hobby quickly evolved into a deep obsession with craftsmanship, precision, and hand-forging high-quality tools.
Today, I run Forged True Smithing LLC out of Laramie, WY. Every piece I make is hand-crafted with attention to detail, built for hard use, and made to last. What sets my work apart isn’t just the steel or the shape—it’s the mindset. I believe in making tools that perform—whether it’s a custom hunting knife, a tactical blade, or a hand-stitched sheath. That craftsmanship should be personal.
I also offer hands-on blacksmithing and knife-making classes, teaching others the techniques and discipline behind the forge. Sharing this craft is just as important to me as making great blades—it keeps the tradition alive and brings new makers into the fold. In 2016, I was invited to compete on Forged in Fire (Season 3, Episode 6). I didn’t take home the win, but the experience sharpened my skills and fueled my drive to keep pushing the limits of what I can create.

Outside the forge, I enjoy hunting, spear fishing, competitive shooting, diving, and flying. (Yes— that’s me in the flight suit. I once flew an Extra 330 airplane performing aerobatic maneuvers, hitting up to 8 Gs!) I take pride in my work and in the reputation I’ve built through years of dedication and customer trust. If you're looking for a blade that’s built for the field—with skill, intention, and zero compromises—you’re in the right place. Whether you're here to buy a knife, commission a custom build, or learn the trade yourself—welcome, and thank you for supporting American-made craftsmanship.
