FAQ
What ages are allowed to take the class?
All ages are welcome, but minors must be accompanied by a parent/guardian and sign a waiver.
Do I need any prior experience?
Not at all. These classes are designed for all skill levels—from complete beginners to those with some forging experience. I tailor each class to your goals and comfort level.
What should I wear to class?
Closed-toe shoes or boots (no sandals)
• Cotton or non-synthetic clothing (avoid anything flammable or loose-fitting)
• Long pants
• Layers you don’t mind getting dirty or burned
Safety is a top priority, so wear clothing appropriate for a hot, hands-on workshop
environment.
Is safety gear provided?
Yes. I provide all necessary safety gear, including:
• Safety glasses
• Hearing protection
• Gloves
• Aprons
You're welcome to bring your own if you prefer.
What do I need to bring?
A packed lunch or snacks if you'd like
• Reusable water bottle (water is provided)
• A positive attitude and a readiness to work with fire and steel
All materials and tools are provided.
How long are the classes?
Classes run from 9 AM to 4 PM, and typically last 2 days, depending on what you're making and
your skill level.
We'll discuss the scope of your class when scheduling.
How many people can attend?
Classes are limited to 1–2 people for personal, one-on-one instruction.
Larger groups may be accommodated with advanced notice and custom scheduling.
What kinds of knives can I make?
That depends on your experience and the time available. Options range from:
• Simple fixed-blade knives
• Basic hunting knives
• Damascus steel (for advanced or multi-day sessions)
We’ll talk about what you want to build when you book your spot.
Is a deposit required?
Yes, a non-refundable $50 deposit per person is required to hold your class date.
This helps cover prep and materials.
Will I take home a finished knife?
Yes, if you complete a 2-3 day class. You’ll leave with a fully finished knife that you forged and handled yourself. The one day class is just the metal portion of the class.
How do I sign up?
Just head to the Contact page or email me directly to discuss what kind of class you’re interested in. Since classes are scheduled individually, we’ll coordinate a time that works for both of us.
